How to assemble your Wacom Intuos pen
After being asked how to disassemble a Wacom Intuos4 pen, I've decided to write a separate post on this topic. In the photo below I've numbered each step in the exact order of how I disassembled each element of my Intuos4 Wacom pen.
1. Remove the pen circular head by unscrewing it.
2. Pull gentle the button and you should hear a click when it's out as it's fitted like a lego piece in 2 holes. by 2 plastic pins.
3. Slide gently the top half of the pen (the plastic grip).
4. This part should be easy as the bottom half of the pen comes out fairly easily (a.here in the eraser cap you should have 2 small springs that normally go inside of each other, b. there is a rail inside it through which you should slide the circuit board when you assemble it and it helps you to position it correctly)
5. This is the protective housing where the board is kept.
6. Slide gently the circuit board from the plastic main housing.
Please find the steps in the following image and if you need further help please do not hesitate to leave a comment or contact me by email. Best of luck and hope this helps you.

any tricks on that? it seems to just be stuck. thanks!
I came into my office this morning to find that my toddler had completely taken my pen apart. Took all morning to find all the pieces.
my brothers daughter took my stylus when i tried to get back it broke and all the wires connected to the tip of the pen disconnected pls help me. i am in a country where i can get one of these pen.. i am really missing using it....
Mine literally exploded when I tugged it out of my pocket and your instructions were perfect. It's back together and working like new!
i tried taking the pen apart as instructed but i can't get the circuit board out of the plastic bottom of the pen! it's stuck and i'm afraid i'll break the circuit board if i try pulling it out
any advice? thanks!
I figured the bigger spring should go into the eraser cap, but I have no idea about the small one. The pen seems to work without it too, only the eraser feels a bit "loose" now. Anyhow, it would be nice to fix it properly.
Piece #4 (the top end of the pen) has two grooves on the inside that allows the two edges of the Piece #6 (the circuit board) to fit snugly into. If you feel resistance, it is probably because the edges of #6 got forced out of the grooves and are now forced against the inner wall of Piece #4. To counter this, squeeze the outside of #4 inward perpendicular to the edges of #6 so the circular opening of the cylindrical #4 becomes slightly oval (just enough to lessen the pressure of where the edges of #6 are wedged). Then pull #6 out and realign to the inner grooves of #4 before attempting to reinsert.

My best guess is that the small spring goes in the middle of the larger larger.
Hope this helps!
Thanks for this recipe. My pen exploded. Here's what I did:
1) Put the small spring into the big spring (yes, they go inside each other)
2) Put the spring inside the "eraser". Shine a light into it and tap it lightly until the spring is vertical
3) Carefully slip the erase into the back half of the pen, make sure the spring is still vertical (aligned with the pen)
4) In my case, one of the microswitches for the button had come off. The clip holding the switch can be put back and carefully clicked into place with a small screwdriver.
5) carefully slip the print card into the back half of the pen. Align it with the groves.
6) Fit the front half of the pen
7) Fit the rubber grib
8) Clip the button in place. Both ends of it should "click" when you use it. If they do not, check if your microswitches have come off, like in my case.
I just used this to fix the Cintiq pen one of my minions got her hands on. I was about to drop $75 for a new one. Thank you from both myself and my child.
please, can you show me by video or photo where can I the two small springs?
Tarek: The two small springs go inside each other in the base of the eraser part, just drop them there.
- i'm unsure why it's stuck but all the parts are together except i can see a bit of the circuit board
- the erase is stuck and i can't even touch it i can only see it if a torch is shining on it
- i think that might basically be why it is stuck; the outer layer is stuck tight over the eraser and won't budge
The details about how to get the barrels apart helped a lot too as mine did not want to separate. Worked like a charm.
THIS is why the www was invented. Thanks. (and don't ever take this page down!)
Thanks again!!
Snapped the wires off at the front as i could not get it out- just wish I saw this back then. ..
Slight press under the buttons and the inside part pulled apart - Only pressed with my thumb ever so slightly. The cleaner jammed the parts together obviously with brutal force and buttons to the back side. SO i did lost one button in the process. Luckily i dont use it at all.
One happy me - One sad cleaner...

People before were right, it was no problem to put easily it back in afterwards.
Also I didn't know how to put the 2 small strings (they are supposed to be the smaller one inside the bigger one and both in the eraser, found this info also somewhere on the internet).
I still lost some pieces of one of the buttons which just got unstuck, fortunately I didn't use that one too much and maybe I'll get someone to replace them and use a better glue.
Thanks for sharing your info. I really appreciate your efforts and I will be waiting for your further write ups thanks once again.

This helped a lot when I accidentally yanked the pen a part.

I found something (the end of a ballpoint pen with the ink removed) that was smaller than the eraser opening on the tablet pen. The piece I used would sit upright on a table. I gently pushed the eraser end down over the bp pen tip until it pushed the board free. Then I inspected the barrel for indicators of proper assembly.
There are two flat impressions on the joint of the barrel that line up (at least one does). If you look down the top barrel section you can see the grooves to confirm the direction.
All of this was when I started out trying to solve the "sticky upper grip" problem. This is a common complaint elsewhere. (use rubbing alcohol on a paper towel to remove the gunk).
However, in the cleaning I twisted the pen and everything just started falling apart.
Still haven't found the "larger" spring. Oh, well.
I tried the perpendicular squeeze to no avail. It's hard to get something unstuck when it's hard plastic and a fragile circuit board. Should I give up? Has anyone solved this problem? I know it's not broken it's stuck so I don't wanna waste big bucks just because it won't close an inch. Will someone at Best Buy have magic fingers and fix it? Is there electronic butter/lube to make the board slippery and give
